Flip Flop Gender Swap

In the Elementary season finale, it turns out Irene Adler was Moriarty the whole time. Did not see that coming (then again I didn't expect her to even be alive in the first place). A female Moriarty is just as much of a change-up as having Lucy Liu play a female Watson (Joan). Then again, that's something I sort of liked, similar to when H.G. Wells was female on Warehouse 13. That was so cool. However, not all revolutionary gender changes are female. Carolyn Keene, the writer of the Nancy Drew novels, was actually a pen name for a man - specifically the man who wrote the Hardy Boys series. Details can be found in The Blockbuster Buster review of the movie incarnation starring Emma Roberts (and E-Rod sits on the sidelines while She-rod takes over the review). Usually pen names worked the other way, when women weren't taken seriously and had to use male pen names to get published. While the Hardy Boys author didn't have that problem, he did want to attract female readers with a female protagonist and a female pen name. His plan worked too well and Nancy surpassed her male counterparts.

There have been two female Red Rangers, a job usually filled by males. The first was in SPD, the leader of A-Squad, all of whom voluntarily chose evil over good. While Kruger entertained the idea of promoting a female Ranger to Red as leader of B-Squad (or at least he asked Skye if he would follow a woman into battle - the first time he scoffed at the idea but the second time he agreed to follow anyone he selected for the job and got promoted to Red after Jack quit), neither Syd nor Z became Red Ranger (later on Bridge did, and one of the first things Jack had done as leader was boss everyone around and get on their nerves). The second was at the end of Super Samurai, which was teased in Samurai when a couple of them thought upon meeting Mia that she might be Red even though she was clearly Pink. That made two Red Ranger siblings, and the male went off and pouted having an inferiority complex about it as he thought there could only be one and that his older sister was supposed to be it. But that nonsense was quickly reversed as Jayden was proven to be the true leader of the team - not that there was anything wrong with Lauren, but she hadn't been there the whole time like he had. There have been two female Blue Rangers (light blue - Tori and Madison) and three male Yellow Rangers (Tideus, Dustin, and Chip), but with the varied colors Red is usually the most consistent.
