Survivor Rants and Random Observations

It's been talked about in magazines and on TV, so I'll just keep this to a minimum since I have nothing much to add. After reaching its peak in Season 20 (Heroes vs Villains), arguably one of the best seasons ever, this show has sucked. The show has gone downhill quite fast. I knew the following season(s) would not be as good, but I certainly wasn't expecting the levels of blandness and stupidity that seasons 21 through 24 have achieved. What's got people talking and hurling abuse at it in Season 21 was that two people quit and still got to be on the jury. People have quit in the past, but it was well before making it that far in the game. Quitters don't belong in the jury, especially now that we get to see how much fun they get to have in "Ponderosa." Season 1 Jeff would not have allowed it. This time, he practically begged them to stay. I was liking mellow Jeff for a while, but now I miss the angry Jeff who would not stand for this kind of thing. At least no one else quit after that (and even if they did the new rule states that quitters can't be on the jury). People did still get hurt, though, which is sad. Speaking of, the reason I'm hoping Season 25 will be good is that they are bringing back three people from previous seasons who were evacuated instead of being voted out. I'm rooting for burn victim Mike Scupin and Russell Swan. I don't count Jonathan Penner since his injury took place during Fans vs Favorites, in which he was a favorite, so in my mind he already had a complete run. Even if this season ends up sucking too, I still think this show is better than Big Brother.

Francesca being voted out first again on principle was unfair. I was rooting for Erik until he couldn't pick an alliance and stick with it, which came off as weak instead of crafty (his constant whining that he was hungry even though he'd eaten reward food got really annoying as well...until it turned out to actually be serious and he was pulled from the game but still serves on the jury, another problem I'll get to in a moment). Brenda received the curse of the loved ones visit. This works about the same as the old curse of the car, but in reverse. People who give up their reward if seeing their loved one in favor of the others getting to see their loved ones have a tendency of being voted out that same night (just like the people who used to win cars whether they kept the car or not). Ungrateful turds. I was more bothered by that than Dawn voting her out since Jeff put Brenda in the position of giving up the reward after she'd already chosen Dawn to come with. The people at Ponderosa may say they sympathize, but if they were still in the game most of them probably would have done the same thing. Also, Jeff is being especially cruel this season. He's becoming old Jeff again but not quite as bad. Having an even-numbered jury (as Erik was still able to serve) brings up the problem of deadlock if the third person in the final 3 doesn't get any votes. That's why all juries in anything have an odd number (except a real jury of course). Of course it doesn't matter because it ended up being unanimous. Next time we don't know what they're doing but it's called Blood vs Water. Jeff says the top three guesses were shark attacks, piranha, and a third tribe, but all of them are wrong. They can change it up to be anything they want it to be, but even in seasons with returning players this show still sucks.

I had a lot of time to think on my hands during my convalescence. Here are some of the things I'd been pondering.
~America's Got Talent is like a bunch of jesters and court entertainers auditioning for America, and if they fail to entertain their punishment is public humiliation rather than a dungeon or whatever they had in medieval times.
~Grey DeLisle played fire benders in both Avatar the Last Airbender and Xiaolin Showdown (Azula and Kimiko, respectively).
~50 Shades of Green aka Awoken is hilarious because it's intentionally stupid. Still they did put some effort into it, their likes and dislikes and catchphrases and such (Phantom of the Opera and "You're tearing me apart [Lisa]!"). Still, I feel sorry for some poor schmuck in the far future who picks this book up out of a book store clearance bin (assuming we still have print books and book stores in the far future) and doesn't know what it is thus taking it seriously. 50 Shades of Gray, however, should not have ended up in hotel rooms in London during the Olympic Games; no matter what voices the Critic and TFS decided to read it in, it's still disturbing.
~The movie adaptation of Les Miserables crossed the line in a few places too...like the scene with HBC and SBC with Santa Claus. Only one other time have I heard of someone doing that, and that was in the Ultimate Warrior comic deplored by the entire site who came in to avenge him. Granted that SBC once t-bagged someone in the audience and HBC got too up close and personal with Hermione as Bellatrix, I now understand why the two of them looked less than enthusiastic when they were on stage singing with the entire cast at the awards ceremony. I would be embarrassed too. Loved the song the Critic came up with for the review though about the two of them.
~Betty White should be cast as Granny Goodness either live action or voice-over.
~Found the Warehouse 13 episode I missed on Netflix. Couldn't finish part 1 of fourth season due to dangerous heart rhythms hospitalized me for 10 days. May or may not try again later.
~I didn't like the Three Stooges movie but then again I was never a fan of the Three Stooges so that's moot. I did recognize Skylar Gisondo from Psych and My Name is Earl though.
~Return trips are the worst.
~Everything in the Despicable Me movies is Dr. Nefario's fault. And Gru is named after the Russian GRU.
